Watchmac 1.3 Released
2009-03-03, by gcbrueckmann.
Watchmac, the most sophisticated surveillance and alarm system for your Mac is now available in version 1.3.
The update to version 1.3 not only improves the overall reliability but also delivers a slew of new features. Watchmac will now detect when someone unplugs the power cord on your mobile Mac or removes the battery – even without the computer being moved. The authentication sensor has also been improved: You can now have Watchmac react to authentication (and screen unlock failures) only after a certain number of failed attempts. If you have configured an alert sound, Watchmac can now pause iTunes and fully turn up the system volume to make the alert more audible. Also, two additional alert sounds are now included with Watchmac. The status menu has become more flexible as well: If you press the Option key while clicking the Watchmac status icon, you’ll get an option to instantly delete all unreviewed infringements – for when you accidently trigger Watchmac yourself.
Previous versions of Watchmac required you to type your Mac OS X login password for authentication. With Watchmac 1.3 you can now assign a custom password different from your login password.
See the release notes for more details on what has changed in version 1.3 of Watchmac.
You can download Watchmac 1.3 at http://bloo7.com/watchmac. If you are using a previous version of Watchmac and have enabled automatic updates in preferences, Watchmac should notify you about the update within the next few days (depending on how often you have Watchmac check for updates).
